Neil George - I sure hope you see this!! Your Inner Circle is the worst piece of trash I've ever read. I can't believe you and your publisher have the nerve to publish such garbage. It was well worth the $500 fee to find out what a horrible adviser you are. Go Ambac - That was a great trade - not for the faint of heart. You are certainly right. It takes a lot of guts to lose 90% of your money! Another great trade was Yingli Green a solid 75% loser. Way to go Neil. We are all proud of you!!

I'm concerned about the local banks which provide lines of credit to businesses. If they run out of deposits (money to lend) or tighten credit, there could be a downward spiral of closings, layoffs, lower consumption, lower tax revenues and suspension of infrastructure maintenance. This sounds like the recipe for a depression or at least a severe, long recession. Those of us relying on dividends and interest to supplement Social Security will be looking for someone to hire seventy year-olds for jobs that don't exist.

Yes, you are absolutely right. There is a shortage of gasoline in parts of Georgia and Tennessee. Some stations are reportedly totally out of petrol while others are limiting the amount their customers can pump to around $40 (not much with gasoline close to $4 a agallon).

This is a form of crude rationing that exists because pump prices aren't rising as much as they should in these areas. This is probably because the companies are afraid of getting accused of profiteering.

I heard a news report this morning about people filling up when down only half a tank and also aout following tanker trucks from station to station. Anecdotal, perhaps, but interesting and indicative of your point.

Can anyone tell me how much I will get for each of my Washington Mutual shares?

I haven't seen any attention devoted to that.

Has the shareholder price been set, or is it in play?

I see sixteen cents as the listed price. Never struck me to sell at three or four dollars.

The most unfortunate part of this crisis is the inability of members of Congress in both parties to step aside from partisan bickering and grandstanding, and show bipartisan leadership.

Where are the present day Benjamin Franklins, Abraham Lincolns, Harry Trumans and Ronald Reagans who can rise above the uproar and direct everyone's energies to practical, pragmatic solutions?

Thank you for talking about the CherryPal C100. I am linking to this page from my blog, CherryPal for Everyone, at cherrypal dot blogspot dot com. I am excited about how the CherryPal can bridge barriers to people who have not had access to computers or the internet because of money, fear, education or other challenges. I will be commenting on my experience of using it on my blog as soon as I get my own CherryPal C100! You can use CODE CPP206 to get your own CherryPal for $10 less than purchase price when they are shipping (soon!). I am an anticipated fan with interests in cloud computing, green washing, sustainability and cheap, reliable connectivity. Use CODE CPP206 for $10 off a CherryPal C100 desktop. I have a question for Neil concerning LEH and LINE. LEH holds a large number of shares in LINE. Will they be forced to sell these shares and cause short term downward pressure on LINE'S stock. GS also holds a large number of shares, will they be selling LINE to raise cash?

One of the reasons for this large build, I read someplace, may be that several tankers that would have docked and delivered last week were kept parked offshore due to Tropical Storm Fay concerns. These tankers did not turn around and go home. They came in and delivered this week.
